Located beside the sea and above the town, Dugommier Fort can be seen from the Bay of Collioure.
This fort is a private building visible as you walk through the mountainous areas that characterise the town.
The redoubt (fort) was built between 1844 and 1851 in order to improve the town's defences on the Spanish border.
Since the end of the 19th century, the fort slowly fell into disrepair, but is now in the process of being restored.
