It is the oldest windmill in the departement. On 11 February 1337, Chevalier Raymond de Toulouse, King of Majorca's Attorney, granted Jacques Ermengald de Collioure a parcel of land in a place known as "Cortines" and the right to use the windmill to grind grain or crops. The mill ceased operating in the 19th century and gradually fell into a state of ruin. When it became the property of the town, the municipality undertook its restoration, which was completed in June 2001. The wooden machinery was built in the traditional way by Bernard Garibald's carpenters.
Today, the olives are harvested in Collioure, then sent to Millas for pressing and finally bottled in Collioure.
You can visit the mill on Wednesday and Sunday mornings from 10am to 12pm.
The Bureau des Amis du Moulin would like to remind you that oil is sold at the mill on Wednesdays and Sundays from 10am to 12pm, when visitors are welcome.
We also sell magnets, trays and cutting boards.
Outside these days, you can still buy oil at the Cave Coopérative des Dominicains and in shops in Collioure that sell local produce.
