The brand new film association, Les Bobines de Collioure, is pleased to present :
As its first feature-length film, “La petite cuisine de Mehdi”. This film, directed by Amine Adjina in 2025, tells the story of a young chef torn between his origins, his family and his aspiration to excel in a competitive world. The film uses culinary action to delicately tackle subjects such as transmission, identity and life decisions. Everything is authentic: the characters, the feelings, even the silences. It’s an authentic, funny comedy that will appeal to everyone, including those who never set foot in the kitchen. A pleasant surprise to discover in theatres.
And the second feature film, “The Asada Family”. Directed by Ryota Nakano in 2020, this film draws its inspiration from the life of Masashi Asada, a photographer who graduated from the Japanese Institute of Photography and Film. Through his images, the director illustrates Asada’s family in a way that is simultaneously amusing and moving, depicting them in the lives they would have liked to lead. It’s a film full of generosity and honesty, sometimes touching, but imbued with tenderness and emotion. In 2021, the film triumphed in Japan, where it was awarded Best Film and Best Director at the Japan Academy Prize. It is also supported by a top-class cast and performance. This is a very captivating film, with every moment savoured.
