Barry Blend was born in Chingford, Essex in 1951. During his youth, between different jobs in London, he traveled with his guitar all over Europe. However, his passion for painting is stronger and makes him take the path we know.
In 1984, he opened his first workshop / gallery in a picturesque fortified fishing village, Collioure, well known to great painters such as Matisse, Derain, Picasso, Chagall, Dufy etc. There he created his very particular style of brilliant colors. and opulent shapes surrounded by black. A style outside the category, instantly recognizable.
Currently he also works in 3D. Sculptures painted and resinated in polystyrene which blend perfectly with the rest of his work.
Today Barry resides in the neighboring village Argeles sur Mer with his Dutch wife Tineke and they have two sons.
