Collioure, stage city for the Flame of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games !
Selected by the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games and the Department of Pyrénées Orientales, Collioure will have the great privilege of hosting the famous Olympic Flame for a major celebration on May 15, 2024.
On the circuit of 68 days of parties and celebrations that will last the journey of the Olympic flame, an essential element of the ceremonial of the Olympic Games, Collioure already has its place on Wednesday May 15, 2024.
A festive program is being developed for this exceptional and unique element in the history of our small Catalan port, obviously involving all the sports clubs of Collioure.
Symbolically lit on July 28, 1928 for the summer games in Amsterdam, it will be on April 26 that it will leave Greek soil, the Panathenaic stadium in Athens, sincethe Port of Piraeus aboard the Belem, the customary three-masted ship of the Côte Vermeille, to arrive in Marseille on May 8.
An essential stopover in the Pyrénées-Orientales, the Canigou, sacred mountain of the Catalans, will be followed by relays to the pearl of Roussillon, the city of painters to welcome the flame of Olympia carried by international, national and local athletes designated by the Olympic Committee.
In our village, the Olympic flame will shine from the Faubourg to the Place du 8 Mai, it will go down to the port where it will be received by the CNEC soldiers before leaving for Perpignan.
In total, there will be nearly 10,000 porters who will take turns for more than eleven weeks throughout the territory
