The Maison du Fauvisme is a place of resource, education and meeting dedicated to Fauvism and the history of Collioure . The cultural mediators accompany you in your discovery of the artistic and historical heritage of the city during walks told by passionate people.

The starting point for each visit, this unmissable cultural space is also a boutique space where you will find a wide choice of specialized books as well as reproductions of works by Henri Matisse and André Derain .

Whether you are passionate or simply curious, let yourself be surprised and come and discover, during a stroll Art and History ... La Maison du Fauvisme offers you six cultural experiences to explore all the heritage riches of the city as well as as parent / child artistic workshops.These activities are available individually or in groups, please contact the Maison du Fauvisme or the Tourist Office for more information.


The meeting point for all the experiences is at the Maison du Fauvisme (10 Rue de la Prud Homie, 66190 Collioure), except the exploration of the forts which is located at the stadium car park next to the terminal ( Parking: P5: )

  • Le Chemin du Fauvism - Color as an absolute
In the footsteps of Matisse and Derain, relive the summer of 1905 and the luminous history of Fauvism in Collioure. In this open-air museum, discover how these two painters made Collioure their pictorial experimentation laboratory in the service of pure color. Walk through the alleys of this village which, from a fishing port, will become at the beginning of the 20th century, city of painters.

  • Exploration of the forts - A discovery off the beaten track
Explore the military history of Collioure, a cross-border town of strategic interest. This visit allows you to enter places usually closed to the public: Fort Carré and Fort Rond as well as Fort Miradou, today the National Commando Training Center.Trail requiring good footwear (sneakers or hiking shoes) and wearing pants rather than shorts or a skirt.

  • Unusual Collioure - An original visit for an authentic experience
Astonishing details and hidden treasures on the program of this walk from the city to the suburb. Through the anecdotes, let yourself be surprised by the authenticity of Collioure.

From a large commercial port to a stronghold and from a fishing port to the City of Painters, discover the many facets of the city and its rich heritage.

Follow the cultural mediator and explore Collioure for this interactive walk specially designed for children.

  • L'atelier des petits fauves - Cultivate creativity
La Maison du Fauvisme offers parent-child artistic workshops. Collage, painting, cutting, indoors or facing the bay of Collioure, live a creative experience with 4 hands!

- Every Monday and Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
In this open-air museum, we invite you to follow "Le Chemin du Fauvisme" and thus browse, at your own pace, the reproductions of the works of this famous summer of 1905. A booklet (5 €) is available at the Maison du Fauvisme and at the Tourist Office to accompany you on your journey.

With its educational program , the Maison du Fauvisme also welcomes school audiences from kindergarten to high school in order to initiate them into this liberating pictorial movement that is Fauvism. The cultural mediators invite students to stroll through the city to discover the works of the Chemin du Fauvism, paint like wild animals during an educational workshop and become seasoned observers during a treasure hunt.
